Given the messages I’ve received over the past day about Noi Mahoney’s post, I figured I would get a post out. While we’re tracking AMOTAC’s planned strike and blockades, I don’t anticipate seeing major disruptions with freight moving between the U.S. and Mexico. Most major carriers are part of CANACAR and don’t plan to strike. We’ll likely see a day or two where blockades result in delays or out of route miles, but I wouldn’t anticipate this being what jumpstarts the Mexico market after the latest lull.https://lnkd.in/g-jApEam

Lori Ann LaRocco reports on FreightWaves that amidst reduced consumer spending, shippers opt for longer sea routes to cut warehouse costs. However, the appeal of extended transit wanes due to upcoming contract season and fears of an East Coast labor strike, leaving trade shifts uncertain. Paul Brashier, VP of drayage and intermodal tells American Shipper increased demand for West Coast onboard capacity during his LA survey. Client concerns over East Coast labor and Red Sea diversions are fueling the demand.“They are looking for additional capacity for ground storage and cross-docking. I am anticipating at least 25% more out of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach... As we go into contract season, customers that are planning on the NVO and carrier side are looking for additional space to store containers."How will other logistics companies distinguish themselves with fewer containers to move? https://hubs.li/Q02mKv9p0#laborstrikes #ports #containers

More and more we are seeing signs that the supply chain will once again shift. Add in the new nearshoring trend with Freight coming over the Mexican border and you can see TX and CA in strong positions as we head into Q2.

"Logistics and supply chain experts are sounding the horn warning that the ripple effects of the targeted United Auto Workers strike manufacturing strikes against the Detroit Three will hit the trucking industry hard and could leave the smaller tier 2 and 3 suppliers filing for bankruptcy.“For every [General Motors] job, there’s six others in the economy that depend on us running, so we’ve got to get back to work,” Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, told CNBC. Read more: American manufacturing is coming back. So are strikes. Some of those jobs in the automotive manufacturing ecosystem are in the trucking industry.“The U.S. auto industry is a significant contributor to the nation’s freight economy,” stressed Chris Spear, president of the American Trucking Associations. “Trucks move more than $950 billion worth of cars, trucks and parts. That’s hundreds of millions of tons of freight that are subject to disruption if this dispute continues for a significant period of time.” (Source: https://buff.ly/3rMceTO )#freightdispatcher #dispatch #womenintrucking #trucking #dispatcher #logistics #freightdispatch #freight #truckdispatcher #trucks #truckdriver #truckingindustry #freightdispatchers #freightdispatching #truckdispatching #freightdispatchservice #viral #elitecompliancesolutions"
